We were the closest family possible. Our world was turned upside down on 05/03/09 when my best friend, the person I love most next only to our children, my sister Trina was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer. Her body gave out on her on 01/09/10 but she will ALWAYS be a part of our daily life and will continue to be in my posts. I started my blog to chronicle our daughter's international adoption from Guatemala and have continued to use it as a journal.

What you will find is my family trying to adapt to our new lives that were handed to us.

Asa's A Genius pt 2

So, Asa has been singing "How Much Is That Doggie In The Window". A lot. The other day, however, he came up with some new words for it. He started singing (on key and keeping the tempo) "How much is that Mickey Mouse/in the clubhouse". Then yesterday (here's where the genius part comes in) he starts singing the Doggie song......... IN SPANISH!!!! Granted, my dad talks to Asa in Spanish about 75-85% of the time, but how smart is that? Today I was watching Asa and papa playing with cars and my dad only spoke Spanish to Asa and Asa was responding half in Spanish, half in English, but Asa understood everything papa was saying. Genius I tell ya.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!!!! We leave in the morning for Spokane so I'm not sure when I'll be blogging again. I don't know yet if we're taking a laptop with us. Depends on how much room we have in our carryons. We're not checking any luggage. So please keep me in mind, hope our plane doesn't crash (my worst fear) and I will remember my xanex. And rosary. I have a rosary that I keep with me whenever I travel. When Norm and I went to Cabo I thought I had lost it. In the two minutes that it took Norm to find it, I was seriously considering cancelling our trip. Anyway, to all the mom's out there, Happy Mothers Day. And Happy Birthday to Amanda!!!! My bestest friend's birthday is tomorrow!!!!! Woohoo!!!!! Her husband wisked her away to the beach for a nice romantic weekend. She deserves it! Until later.........

Asa is so blessed to have your father teaching him Spanish... how cool is it that he will be bilingual without the help of Dora the Explorer!
