We were the closest family possible. Our world was turned upside down on 05/03/09 when my best friend, the person I love most next only to our children, my sister Trina was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer. Her body gave out on her on 01/09/10 but she will ALWAYS be a part of our daily life and will continue to be in my posts. I started my blog to chronicle our daughter's international adoption from Guatemala and have continued to use it as a journal.

What you will find is my family trying to adapt to our new lives that were handed to us.

Not a whole lot happened today. I had Asa starting at 7am and I actually woke up feeling pretty good at 6am. I took some Nyquil last night and slept really good. I still feel kinda crappy but Asa was an angel today. We had so much fun together. The child cracks me up! His sense of humor is very skewered. I wish my grandpa was around to see him.
Anyway, this time of year reminds me of our honeymoon. Ahhhh...... Norm and I had the perfect honeymoone. We got married in January but waited until May to go on our honeymoon. We also took my family. Yes, you read that right. I had promised my family that when my car accident claim was finally settled I would take them on a vacation. So in May 2006, the 7 of us packed up and spent a week on the Mayan Riviera. If heaven exists, and I'm not sure that it does, but for me, it already happened. Here are some of the 100's of pictures I took on our trip. Enjoy!
Our resort, the Barcelo Maya Tropical, was on a private, white sand beach with it's own snorkeling pier.

Asa on the beach. Yes, the tattoo was compliments of Tia Sissy!

I love this picture of Asa! This was on our way to a day trip to Cozumel. Not so fun.

Sissy and Josh on the beach in Playa Del Carmen, waiting to take the ferry to Cozumel

Mom and Papa at the small cafe where we had breakfast in Playa Del Carmen

Norm and me in front of the Caribbean Sea in Playa Del Carmen, before the (hellish) ferry to Cozumel

Asa kicking back and enjoying Cozumel.

Back at the resort from Cozumel. Asa loved that there was an ice cream machine pretty much everywhere you walked!

My bruised leg, a "souvenier" of my first and last snorkeling excursion.

The resort grounds

Walking to dinner. Asa looks so little!

Just one of the something like 10 pools at the resort.

Heaven, I tell ya, heaven

Papa and mom before our "last supper", the night before we left.

Our last supper

The 7 of us after our last dinner together. I'll never forget the smell of the steakhouse (yum!) mixed with the smell of aloe vera because we were all burned! The weather was perfect, the beach was perfect, the company was perfect, the only thing I would change would be I would do it more often!!!! Ahhhh...... Barcelo...... I miss you so...... Until later........
