We were the closest family possible. Our world was turned upside down on 05/03/09 when my best friend, the person I love most next only to our children, my sister Trina was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer. Her body gave out on her on 01/09/10 but she will ALWAYS be a part of our daily life and will continue to be in my posts. I started my blog to chronicle our daughter's international adoption from Guatemala and have continued to use it as a journal.

What you will find is my family trying to adapt to our new lives that were handed to us.

Oh What A Night

I swear I get the dumbest songs stuck in my head......

Had two doctor appointments today, Dr. N (which was SUPPOSED to be Friday, but they didn't have me down so I went in today) and my psychiatrist Dr. J. I took in my cookies to Dr. N's office and had my appointment, and when I was scheduling for next month, guess who comes along and starts talking to me?! DR. N!!!!!! I was so excited! He asked about Asa (I had 6 pictures of Asa helping me make the cookies and 6 pictures of V) and I whipped out those pictures before I could answer. He said how cute they both were. Ahhh..... then I got dizzy and could barely walk out of the office. He is so freakin' dreamy!!!! And so nice.

Anyway, I had a bit of drama this morning. I had to fight Norm for the cookies. He has a meeting tonight so he wanted to take them in. I said no, they are for Dr. N's office. I told him I would make him different cookies and have them ready for him when he got home and before he left for the meeting. So I got up this morning, got the dough all mixed, etc... got them in the oven when I heard this hiss and weird noise. I turned around, thinking it was the coffee maker, when a light in the oven caught my eye. The oven element was white hot and was ready to flame! I screamed, as images of our house blowing up flashed before my eyes (it's an electric stove... I swear I'm an idiot) and I turned off the oven. I turned the oven back on and it wouldn't get hot. So I had 2 dozen cookies to bake, no oven. What did I do? Ended up using our small little convection toaster oven! So when I went in to Dr. N's office, the assistant who always shows me back to the room, was thanking me for the cookies and I had to regale her with how much I went through to take those cookies in to them. She was cracking up.

Trina and Asa came over last night so here are a few photos from then:

putting together his Thomas puzzle. Asa didn't want to take off his jacket....
..... but then he did.
Checking out mum mum
he wasn't in a very photogenic mood.....
...... so this is the last picture I manage to snap of him.
The cookies for Dr. N's office.

And a HUGE thank you to Holly for helping me out with that problem. Thank you Holls! And Zo is my hero. He's a computer genius! Until later......
