We were the closest family possible. Our world was turned upside down on 05/03/09 when my best friend, the person I love most next only to our children, my sister Trina was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer. Her body gave out on her on 01/09/10 but she will ALWAYS be a part of our daily life and will continue to be in my posts. I started my blog to chronicle our daughter's international adoption from Guatemala and have continued to use it as a journal.

What you will find is my family trying to adapt to our new lives that were handed to us.

Isn't it too bad that Stay At Home Mom's (or SAHM) don't get to take sick days and just not do anything? If we could, man, today would have been one of those days. Valentina had a small sore type thing right below her left ear and this morning it was getting worse. Both mom and I agreed that it was there before we got her ears pierced (whew) so at least it wasn't a reaction to that. I also had a doctor's appointment set for Tuesday for her, so I felt ok in letting it wait until then to have it checked out, but then mom noticed a pretty big lump at the base of her skull. Okay, now it was time to reschedule the appointment for TODAY. I called the doctor and got in this afternoon for 2:30 pm. I desperately needed to get to Target as I was running out of diapers AND wipes (yes, Holls, I have already gone through almost 2 refill packs). So we had lunch plans set for 1 pm with my aunt, Sonia, her 2 daughters, Sandi, mom, sissy, Asa and me and V. Sissy drove mom, Asa, V and me as her truck is the only one with 2 car seats in it right now. So, we hit Target, I stocked up on stuff ($400 worth of stuff!) and we were late getting to Spaghetti Factory, so we rush in there and as I'm getting settled in, I swear to God, a "fan" came up to me! How rock star-ish! No, seriously, it was "Mother Theresa" who comments on my blog once in a while. I met her at stamp class (her picture is here) and gave her the address to my blog. So, MT came up to me and asked "do you know who I am?" Of course I did! It's always good to see my fans, I'll never get too famous for the ones who knew me when (I really hope everyone can hear the sarcasm in my voice right now). Anyway, we ate and then were running late for the doctor. We made it in and the nurse said I needed to undress V. Uh oh. She had spots all over her body. Yep. Doctor came in and made it official: Chicken Pox. My daughter has Chicken Pox. Can you freakin' believe this? She's not home 5 days and already has some incredibly infection disease. I called Norm as soon as he got off work and he said "boy, I bet there are going to be a bunch of people who were on our plane(s) who will be coming down with Chicken Pox! Serves those assholes right (the airlines, not the other people) for shuffling us around so many damn times and places! So, that is we will be dealing with for the next 3 weeks. Doctor said not to take her anywhere for 3 weeks, or at least 5 days after her last breakout. And here's the kicker, she was running a 101 fever tonight and she still never complained. What a champ I have! Until later.......

Many of you have been commenting that how lucky V is to be getting them so young. Yes, she is. Doctor even said that they may not get that bad. HOWEVER, because she IS so young, this will NOT make her immune to them!!!!!! Which means..... with our luck, she will have them again. One HUGE blessing is that we had the Christmas pictures taken Wednesday! Yay! We were going to wait and have them done next week. Soooooo glad we didn't do that. However, if you have a kid in the local area and they haven't had the pox (or shots for them), you might want to avoid the JC Penney photo studio.......
