We were the closest family possible. Our world was turned upside down on 05/03/09 when my best friend, the person I love most next only to our children, my sister Trina was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer. Her body gave out on her on 01/09/10 but she will ALWAYS be a part of our daily life and will continue to be in my posts. I started my blog to chronicle our daughter's international adoption from Guatemala and have continued to use it as a journal.

What you will find is my family trying to adapt to our new lives that were handed to us.

Merry Christmas Eve!

Today was SUPER busy so before I even start with photos of today (tomorrow or the next day), here is what we've been up to the past 2 days.
Asa at the Grotto Saturday night. He gets so many compliments on his snowman hat!
Here is the candle I lit for our family. I was just looking for an unlit one and it so happened after I lit that that I noticed it had crosses all over it! How fitting.
All of the candles lit.
Prima Valentina and Primo Asa. I love this picture even though neither one of them have a smile on their face. The weather was cold, about 35, but not raining.
These pictures of the lights do NOT do it justice.
Asa at the petting zoo they have.
He didn't like to really touch the animals.
After we got home, everyone hung out at our place and watched the TV version of "Christmas Vacation" and Asa watched "Polar Express" on the DVD player.

Yesterday, Sunday, I made 5 batches of sugar cookies. Here is Valentina eating a contriband cookie that Beya gave to her.
Asa rolling out the cookie dough......
....... cutting out a cookie......
........ rolling out some more dough.....
........ smiling at the camera......
....... and cutting out another cookie. I think.
This is the new rosary I bought for myself at The Grotto. It's red, which has twofold meaning; for Christmas and also because V's birthstone is garnet. I love it!
Today, Monday. These are the cookies that I took over to Auntie Lori's.
The cookies that are home for us for tomorrow.
close up of our cookies.
The chocolate crinkles, one of my favorite cookies!

Our fake tree in the family room.
our mantle in the family room. As you can see, only two of the stockings have presents, Asa's and Valentina's!
Asa playing Nintendo.
Sissy trying to help Valentina pull herself up.
There she goes!
I hope everyone had a great Christmas Eve!!!!! Until later.......
