We were the closest family possible. Our world was turned upside down on 05/03/09 when my best friend, the person I love most next only to our children, my sister Trina was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer. Her body gave out on her on 01/09/10 but she will ALWAYS be a part of our daily life and will continue to be in my posts. I started my blog to chronicle our daughter's international adoption from Guatemala and have continued to use it as a journal.

What you will find is my family trying to adapt to our new lives that were handed to us.

Mom just called and said that the oncologist is pleased with the CT scans. He said they are a bit harder to read since they were taken at a different place but that some of her liver tumors are just scars now, not tumors!

We were all terrified over the weekend since Trina was having severe leg pain. As of the last bone scan, the cancer was contained in "just" her upper body and her legs weren't affected. So with that happening combined with the slight dip in her tumor marker numbers, I just *knew* that it was spreading. They didn't do leg scans but the doctor seems to think that the leg pain is just from the chemo.

I could hear Trina in the background laughing and crying because she was so happy that the chemo is working. On Wednesday she cried and cried to me that she knew she was going to have to keep doing chemo longer than six months. When she started (before it had spread to her bones) the doctor was hopeful that she might be in remission after only 4 months of chemo and might not have to do the full six months. Well, that was then, Wednesday was Wednesday. Well, now at least we know it's working!!!!

Next stop; good tumor marker number drop!!!!! We'll probably get those tomorrow.
