We were the closest family possible. Our world was turned upside down on 05/03/09 when my best friend, the person I love most next only to our children, my sister Trina was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer. Her body gave out on her on 01/09/10 but she will ALWAYS be a part of our daily life and will continue to be in my posts. I started my blog to chronicle our daughter's international adoption from Guatemala and have continued to use it as a journal.

What you will find is my family trying to adapt to our new lives that were handed to us.

Talk Shit

I was in the grocery store a week or two ago and had an urgent recipe question. I immediately called one of my best friends who would have the answer. She didn't answer the phone so assuming everyone else is like me and never checks their voicemail I didn't bother to leave a message.

About a half hour later I was in the car waiting for mom to finish when I saw that I had miss her return phone call.  For some unknown reason I actually listened to the voicemail she left. In her trademark quiet, calm, easygoing, unassuming voice she left the following message:

"Hi. It's me. Just calling you back. Wondering if you wanted to talk. I want to talk to you. Is that what you wanted? Did you want to talk to me?

I literally laughed out loud when I heard the last part. I was all alone in my car laughing so hard.

Thank you, Jen, for never ceasing to say something so off the wall that I have no other choice than to laugh! We both have so much loss in our lives and extreme emotional pain that manifests itself into physical problems (me physical pain, you, determined to bake any and every pie ever thought of and even some that haven't....and maybe shouldn't, haha) that when we laugh together it means that much more.

I love you stripy Jen!

Oooohhhh....I saw the title and settled all in for this one! I thought, this should be a good!! And then it was about ME!! Ha Ha! I knew the story, and the end!

You shit talker!! My very favorite one!!

By the way, I love my new nick name! But the other day, I thought you spelled it wrong in a blog comment, and put Strippy Jen...like Stripper Jen. I was laughing so hard I almost fell off the chair.

But then I looked again, and you didn't! But then, I wasn't sure if you have always been calling me Strippy Jen, like Stripper Jen. Or not? And I'm still not sure? It's like your one blog post that we went back and forth on, and were laughing at each other, was it the door knob, or lack thereof? I can't remember? Or the inconspicuous paint colors? I can't remember. We speak in codes that we can't even crack ourselves, or can we? I'm not sure.

Do we think we get it, or do we? Or do sometimes one of us get it, and the other doesn't and then it reverses? Are you lost? I am. Are you calling me a Stripper, or Stripped? Either way...I don't care. I love it all. Dave calls me J. Ho....so it doesn't matter.

I was going to put that Aviana likes that Ho Hey! song so much because it says...

You're my sweet

People don't like you calling your 6 year old daughter a HO! but she is. She's a Hodder, and if you are a Hodder girl then you're automatically a HO! But the readers don't care about that, so I didn't take the time to EXPLAIN!!! But that IS why she likes it, even though she can't talk...I think so. I know so. And I'm her mom!! Because that's why, and because I said so!!

That's part of the reason I wrote...and for other reasons. I told Dave and he said, no...she's not a HO...only you're a HO! She's pure, and sweet, and innocent! Not dirty, and HO-ish like YOU ; )

He doesn't get it!

I know you do...

You get me!
